Funding opportunities
Some funds are available for community mission from a range of sources. FiA has two funds of its own; the Lone Parent Fund which provides grants of up to £100 for lone parents in particular need and the Project Fund which offers grants of up to £1,000 for church based community initiatives. To find out more and about how to apply for grants please go to their pages on this site.
Help with fundraising ... get in touch as early as possible ... it can save a lot of time in the long run!
Raising funds from external sources (charitable trusts, government funding streams, the Lottery etc) is a complicated and time consuming affair and it needs dedication. There is a wide range of support available through different agencies across Derbyshire, contact details for which are available from FiA officers. These include software to search through the many thousands of trusts and funding streams to select those who may be persuaded to fund your initiative.
Faith in Action ... a good starting point
Of course a good starting point would be Faith in Action the community mission manual produced by FiA. Chapters 3 and 4 have important funding sections but don't rush past the vital theological foundation in chapter 1 or the vision development in chapter 2. Apart from giving your project a good foundation, these early chapters are a good basis for successful fund raising.
From time to time specific trusts or funding streams are drawn to our attention and we have listed a few of them on our external funding page which is being developed alongside find newsletter.
Finally please do keep in touch with us, we may be able to offer support and help and we would love to hear how you get on, successful or otherwise, so that others can learn from your experience. Indeed it would be worth looking at chapter 5 of Faith in Action or Faith in Derbyshire (the research which led to Faith in Action) to learn from the case studies we have included there.
Funding through contracts
One way of attracting funding is to enter into a contract to provide services. Derbyshire Contracts Advice Network, based at Links in Chesterfield, provide advice and support in developing this sort of funding, including regular updates on which contracts are open for tendering. They also produce a regular newsletter, for the latest version click DCAN Newsletter
