3d: Third Sector Support for Derbyshire
3D is the consortium of third sector infrastructure organisations in Derby and Derbyshire. These organisations offer support to other third sector organisations in a range of different ways from policy development through fund raising to lobbying for their particular cause. Members of 3d include Councils for Voluntary Service which offer general support to any voluntary or community group and specialist such as FiA which focuses its work on churches. (The FiA representative currently chairs 3D.)
3D’s work is generally in two areas, first in coordinating services when that saves resources, e.g. in setting up projects around common themes such as Equal Opportunities or Disability support. They also are the primary means by which the third sector engages with government at a county or regional level.
One important 3D project is Voice for Derbyshire which supports engagement from the sector in the Derbyshire Local Area Agreement and the Derbyshire Partnership Forum.
Does your group work with vulnerable adults?
Do you offer services to support independent living?
Do you want to explore ways of financing your work?
Enterprising Services Project
offers free, flexible and individual assistance to voluntary, community and faith groups and organisations.
Ways we can help include:
- Opportunity to explore the idea of income generation/social enterprise and how it could benefit the organisation/group
- Support to develop business ideas
- Help to access resources, funds and training for enterprise development
- Links to the expertise and contacts of the wide range of activities provided by Age Concern Derby and Derbyshire
- Support to develop the capacity of organisations/groups to achieve sustainability
Current priority areas for service development are those linked to food and eating, or home and domestic maintenance. These are deliberately very broad categories and are not exclusive. We encourage anyone with ideas which help support vulnerable people to live independently and with quality of life to contact the project.

Enterprising services has been established as a joint venture between Derbyshire County Council and Age Concern Derby and Derbyshire to support social enterprise in the Voluntary, Community and Faith (VCF) sector as a means of delivering services to vulnerable adults in Derbyshire and Derby city. It has the underlying ethos of aiming to ensure that, as purchasers of their own care, vulnerable adults have real choice of a range of quality services.

Get involved with vinvolved Derbyshire
vinvolved Derbyshire is a dedicated team that works with young volunteers. Our aim is to inspire 16-25 year olds across the county to get positively involved in their communities by matching them with their perfect volunteering opportunity and making it a cool thing to do at the same time! They can even earn their nationally recognised vawards too.
In order to increase the quality, quantity and diversity of volunteering opportunities that are available to young people vinvolved Derbyshire also works closely with organisations to help them improve their youth volunteering programme.
Youth volunteering can make a huge difference to organisations as well as to a young person so please call 01457 890902 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to speak Cathryn or Jen about youth volunteering.
