Mental Health and the Exploration of Faith

Plans and intentions may be subject to alteration because of the use of volunteers in many capacities during the programme.  Booking fees are non-returnable although a substitute may be made by prior arrangement.

Keynote Speaker (please note change):
We are delighted to announce that the Venerable Arthur Hawes, former archdeacon of Lincoln and chair of the East Midlands Regional Development Centre of the National Institute for Mental Health in England, will be our keynote speaker.

Cost: £25 / £10 service users (Lunch included)
Bookings before 1 Nov 2009: £20 / £7.75 service users

 

There will be a plenary, a service user drama, and a programme of interactive workshops during the day.


Workshops include:
o      Understanding eating disorders and mental ill health in young people
o      Cross Cultural issues in mental health
o      Psalms and permission to scream
o      Eating disorders
o      Bereavement and the ritual of funeral
o      Is Mental Health a Justice Issue?
o      Mental Health ABC with Questions & Answers
o      Carers, who cares for them?

 

This conference has been organised by a steering group which includes service users and carers, clergy and lay people; staff from Derbyshire Mental Health Services chaplaincy, MASH, Derby Diocesan Council for Social Responsibility, Derby Diocesan portfolio for disability.
