DERBY COMMUNITY CHAPLAINCY PROJECT

Aims to provide holistic support to ex-offenders resettling into Derby; to empower them to improve their quality of life and reduce re-offending.

Working in partnership with Adullam Housing Association, Derbyshire Churches, Derby Community Safety Partnership, Derbyshire Constabulary, Derbyshire Probation Trust, HMP Dovegate, HMP Foston Hall, HMP Nottingham Community Prison, HMP Sudbury, the project will train mentors who will form relationships with ex-offenders and support them in their resettlement into the community.

The Derby project has undertaken significant needs assessment and worked closely with the key partners and other agencies. It is now at the stage of becoming a Charitable Company Limited by Guarantee. In order to do this we need to recruit some volunteers to the Board and are looking for a few people who feel very positively about this type of care. In particular we need people who could offer project management skills such as chair, administration, and finance as well as those who would be good ambassadors for the project through other networks.

If this could be you and you would like to know more then please contact Joy Bates, Community Action Officer, Derby Diocesan Mission and Ministry Team, Derby Church House, Full Street, Derby, DE1 3DR. Tel: 01332 388686
